Atlantic Stage: Auditions for Child’s Play

Atlantic Stage announces the production of Child’s Play by award-winning local playwright and company member Kevin D. Ferguson. This world premiere production is under the direction of Thom Penn, Atlantic Stage’s Producing Artistic Director. Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, and the play opens on Friday, April 26, 2013.

Child’s Play tells the story of Vera, a child therapist who wonders if she is really doing the children she treats any good anymore. When confronted by Cindy, a ten-year old who has quit speaking to anyone, Vera struggles to peel away the layers of the girl’s mistrust and enter Cindy’s world to uncover the secrets behind her silence

Auditions for Child’s Play take place on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 until 5:00 p.m. Please bring one prepared monologue, 1-2 minutes in length. Also, you will be asked to read from the script.

Atlantic Stage is seeking male and female non-union actors for the following roles in Child’s Play:

Vera Heigl (30s-40s) – a child therapist

Roger (40s-50s) – Vera’s colleague

Cindy Stillman (10) – Vera’s client

Julia Stillman (30s-40s) – Cindy’s mother

Peter Stillman (30s-40s) – Cindy’s step-father

Dragon – a miniature toy

King – a miniature toy

Queen  – a miniature toy

Princess  – a miniature toy

Ninja Girl  – a miniature toy

Participating in Child’s Play is an exciting opportunity to put the ensemble’s stamp on the development of a new piece as it moves toward publication and future productions elsewhere.
