March 2012 Grand Strand Artist of the Month: Jeff Norris

The March 2012 Grand Strand Artist of the Month is Jeff Norris. Join us for his opening reception on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fresh Brewed Coffee House, which is located at 933 Broadway Street in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach.

Jeff Norris grew up in Sumter, South Carolina where he took private art lessons as a teen. After graduating from Sumter High School, Jeff went on to major in Visual Communication (Commercial Art) at The Art Institute of Atlanta. He studied all aspects of visual art including graphic design, fine art, typography, and more. After working for numerous advertising agencies designing national and international ad campaigns, logos, branding and packaging, Jeff started his own award-winning design studio in Columbia and Florence.

Jeff relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ten years ago, and he currently works as a graphic designer by day and a painter by night. He puts the mouse down at the end of the day and picks up the paintbrush at night as a means of escaping the computer world. Painting mostly on recycled materials, Jeff describes his art as being inspired by the complexity of God’s creation in people. He seeks to capture the emotions of life and how those emotions impact the everyday person by using a fine art approach with a graphic element to shake it up. Also, his love for music moves him to create unique pantings of everyone from Bob Dylan to Jimi Hendrix to Hank Williams.

Media Partners for the 2012 Grand Strand Artist of the Month series include: Weekly Surge, TheDigitel Myrtle Beach, and Grand Strand Happening.
