Ronald Daise Releases New CD Celebrating Gullah Geechee Culture

Author, performing artist, and cultural preservationist Ronald Daise releases a new CD, Gullah Tings fa Tink Bout, on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Through songs and readings, Daise offers listeners a musical journey to understanding and appreciating Gullah Geechee culture.

Daise is the former chairman of the federal Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission as well as the former star of the Nick Jr. award-winning television series, Gullah Gullah Island. Currently, Daise is Vice President for Creative Education at Brookgreen Gardens, where he presents a weekly Gullah Geechee Program Series. Selected songs are featured at each program.

The CD genre is World Music, highlighting the following themes: African Diaspora; the common cultural connections of food ways, language, rice heritage, crafts, music; the tragedy of enslavement; the importance of family; and the resilience of survival.
